Vintage Denim Mania
If you are a vintage virgin, chances are that you are not a vintage denim virgin because everyone must own at least one pair of vintage jeans in their closet.
The difference between regular jeans and vintage jeans is that the more worn the jeans are the better they look. Designers purposefully make the jeans look worn because it is the jean look that makes jeans cool. The worn off, fringe, ripped effect: the more imperfect your jeans are the more perfect they are.
There are a couple of brands where you can buy vintage jeans from like Wrangles, Rustler, Lee… Levi’s is the most iconic one and the one you can find most variety of vintage denim- including some very cool customised Levi’s denim.

Our advice when buying denim is to always look for the color of the denim- as soon as you find a wash that suits you then the fit more or less can adapt to your body. It is generally a good idea to buy denim that is 1 or 2 sizes bigger as the boyfriend style is the nicest style to wear vintage denim in.
Apart from the typical American brands the classical Italian brands like Rocco Barroco, Gianni Versace and Dolce Gabbana are great choices for vintage denim buys. Calvin Klein is another brand which started producing iconic denim in 80s and are statement denim jeans you can collect.

A part from the color and the wash things that you should look out for when purchasing vintage denim is the style- the 501 and 505 Levi’s styles are the most popular vintage Levi’s styles and definitely the styles which are going to grow in value in the future.
Still not convinced that you want to shop vintage? Once you go vintage you will never go back as there is nothing original about buying new jeans. Also there are so many jean brands on the market now that vintage denim shopping in the future will not be as exciting as it is now- looking for the perfect pair and wash from a well known American brand.
